The first week of December is where I take stock of the year that’s ending and make plans for the next one.

This has been a very good year as far as my writing goes. I broke into certain markets that were on my 2008 Goals list, completed the 120 query challenge and left my target earnings waaay behind.

2009 will be a little slower as I plan to take a few months off. The writing doesn’t stop though. I’ve set my goals for next year, which include sending at least 60 queries, breaking into some specific publications (I have a list), and matching, if not doubling my 2008 income (it *is* possible to do that with fewer queries/ submissions).

Besides my writing goals, I am also aiming to paint more seriously and exhibit some work by the end of 2009 (ambitious for someone who has painted just a few small canvases, can’t draw very well and hasn’t touched a paint-brush in months). That done, I will continue my effort to read more and like this year, I am aiming for at least 52 books in 52 weeks. I’ll update my reading list as I go along.

Next year is going to be very busy, but I think this little list is eminently do-able. Will I need divine intervention (or a ghostwriter, perhaps) to accomplish this? I’ve got 12 months to find out.
