I have tons of notebooks full of ideas for pitches to my dream markets. Because of this, I imagine myself to be a productive writer. Surely all these ideas will translate into sales and make my career a success?
Not so.
Turns out, I need to actually send those pitches before editors come knocking on my door. Given the economy at the moment, that’s not likely to happen any time soon. It’s therefore up to me to keep b-i-c* and get those queries out.
With the new home office in place (still working via shaky wireless – no sign of the telephone linesman), books and notebooks around me, favourite pen-stand in its corner and the calendar on display, there really cannot be any reason not to get down to work.
Yesterday, I did manage to get b-i-c and finish a deadline. More importantly, I sent out half a dozen pitches – ideas that I’ve been sitting on since July.
Now, if only the editors would reply back asap…
